My Soap box

A Post for the PM.

I am so thoroughly, absolutely, totally sick and tired of hearing David Cameron telling us how skint this country is. Every time I switch on the news or pick up a paper it is all I ever see or read! Well this may come a bit of a surprise Dave, but most people had actually noticed things were ‘tight’. Perhaps it’s something to do with the fact that we are all living ‘hand to mouth’. Oh, I’m sorry; when I say ‘all’ I don’t mean to put you in the same lowly bracket…

Fascism is not Nazism

Fascism is not Nazism

At this point I will discuss the issue of racism for Fascists and Nazis. I will try to draw a distinction between the two as I consider their views to be completely different. For the uneducated man there is practically no difference between Nazism and Fascism, but this is not the case. Two main distinctions that could be easily identified are the two ideologies’ views on racism and the importance of the state. To begin with racism, Mussolini even criticised the Nazis for the racism, arguing that national pride did not require the ‘delirium’ of race. Ethnical minorities such as the Jews were defended by the Italian state as long as they proclaimed themselves part of the Italian nation[1] Therefore they submit to the state and acknowledge its supremacy. Being part of the state, acknowledging its greatness and expressing desire to help it achieve glory allowed minorities in Fascism to be admitted into the nation. For Fascism people who do not feel part of the nation can only weaken the state. Since State power and authority are fundamental requirements for Fascism, such people are a disease, a virus that needs to be cured. Racism in Fascism, in comparison to Nazism, is more on a spiritual level. This is further backed by Stanley Payne’s comments in his book ‘Fascism’, where he says that fascism is free from anti-Semitism.[2]People who feel inside themselves as part of the nation are considered part of it whereas for Nazism, no matter how you feel, if you are not of pure blood you cannot be part of the nation. The ‘volk’ idea has a central position in Nazi ideology. Use biodiesel!

Again On Strike

Again On Strike

The French Politics are a comparative factor for determining the political environment in Europe – a strong and stable country like France is, however, often hit by strikes of its own citizens against political decisions and law proposals. This is what happened almost a week ago and currently France is being shaken by one of the worst petrol crisis it has ever faced.

The main reason for the rebellious French behaviour of the citizens is the proposed legislation that reforms a crucial factor in the French Employment policies. The new initiative by the government is raising the retirement age from 60 to 62 years. It looks as if it is not a matter of significant change but the French are, as usual, strongly opposing any change that breaks down the quite useful for them stereotype. Thousands of workers stopped exercising their duties, including the workers in France’s 12 oil refineries. This caused not only a subsequent lack of fuel in around 1000 gas stations (as well as some of the largest white diesel suppliers) around the country, but also troubled the whole public.

However, the society seems to be understanding on the topic, especially when it is all about the strike. Even students are about to raise their voices and the effect might be quite devastating over the government – France remembers its history when, after a student protest that gained significant social force, the ruling government was forced to resign.

So it is almost impossible to draw a general conclusion about these strikes and outbursts of public dissatisfaction – the French government and ruling political forces are aiming to adjust the country to a more broader employment plan that has been adopted by many EU members already. However, the French people seem to be uncomfortable with changes that interfere with their already established comfort.

Enigin scam, nuclear myths and setting the world to rights!

After the recent disaster in Japan, when a nuclear reactor lost control and threatened to do some serious damage to the surrounding people and land, the world went into a bit of a frenzied panic: nuclear power was awful, it should be banned and all the power stations in the world should be quickly and swiftly destroyed before any more damage could be done. It was a global catastrophe and in many ways one which could have been avoided. So what’s the real truth in my opinion?

Well, funny you should ask…

Modern reactors are reasonably safe, very efficient and watched closely…

Today, 27th September 2011, is the day for the Labor Party would be having its annual conference when Ed Miliband, the current leader of the political formation, would be addressing political fellows and delegates from different fractions of the UK and worldwide. Even though his speech would be focused, as predicted by the BBC, on tax reforms and income changes to the wealthier population of the country, another topic begs for attention, as revealed by people within the audience.

Tax Deal With the Swiss

UK Treasury minister has announced and now is about to complete a crucial tax collection deal with the Swiss ministry of finance. David Gauke declared that the UK’s taxpayers should no longer suffer from the fraudulent behaviour of other British people who chose to hide their money in the castles of Swiss Banks. However, the Swiss are not going to reveal any identities which is again a fruit for debates as to how just it is to agree to such terms.

In order to protect their customers and their reputation as the perfect bankers, the Swiss are ready to deliver money hidden from tax to the UK government but still are quite concerned about their customers. They hardly care about any consequences to people who have deprived the country from nearly 5 billion UK pounds – all they care about is their perfect reputation. Sadly, the UK seems to agree on this with the Swiss authorities – the Treasury minister announced he is ready to conclude the deal under such terms and collect a significant amount of money.

But how is this going to protect the other taxpayers? The normal people, the ones holding the special needs teaching jobs, the ones working on the construction sites would still pay their tax regularly whereas the ones whose money rests in Switzerland would pay tax… once. Without their identities, the UK government would not be able to investigate these tax-avoiders and would not be able to impose them tax payments in the future. This is a one-time deal and next year the people holding their money in Swiss accounts will be yet again enabled to hide income tax.

The far-right problem

The far-right problem

The attacks in Norway that took the lives of nearly 90 people and injured many more were the latest and among the most terrible expressions on racism, far-right neo-Nazism and seriously brainwashed anti-acceptance mind. This poses a huge question over European countries – the continent that is the home of racism and that still fights over its own ideals.

Nordic countries like Norway and Sweden are famous for their high lifestyles and democratic governance. However, different researchers have concluded these states are also the most racist among all where the general settings of the population indicate that they are against the mixture of ethnic groups in their countries. People seem to be more interested in buying designer jewellery rather than simply accepting a few words a day indicating that immigration in their countries is not always a bad things. Fanatic about Islamisation but not so religious as Christians, these people lack serious awareness on how society over the world changes.

And this appears to be a political problems. It cannot change simply because politicians are like members of the society alike – they also have the same or at least slightly similar position. But even this is not the real problems. The politics of these countries are problematic because if the countries know that they cannot accept immigrants because they are not ready do so safely, why do governments allow the immigration process to quicken that fast. Or why do not they implicate changes that allow immigrants to merge with the general population and form a part of it rather than simply being monitored as minorities?

Answering these questions will not bring back the lives of nearly 90 people in Norway. However, this might actually expose some serious weaknesses that need to be addressed in the Nordic region politics and international relations.

New Inflation Rates Hit Britain

New Inflation Rates Hit Britain

The recession in the UK has come to a point where the crucial factors for economic development can no longer be distinguished. The fuel prices hit the general income, the commodity market is still unfavorable for the UK trade, the unemployment is increasing with quick rates forcing employers to hire experience staff for less pay. The problems are somehow well maintained by a rate of inflation that is going out of control.

The Bank of England issued a special report on the economic environment in the country pointing out the weak points in the financial system. The shortage of capital in investment and foreign money flow leads to decrease in the value of the British money. Secondly, the currency markets can no longer sustain increased pound rates – Asian currencies are eating the strength of the UK money, the Euro is kept strong by economies like Germany and France.

This is how the problems for the UK are maintained steadily increasing. The inflation rate is now above 4% which is the worst since 2008 when the crisis started but was quickly maintained to a manageable basis. Retailers are imposing higher prices and are conducting restricted trade. Tesco products have been marked with less demand, the stores indicating less profits than ever. Other huge retailers indicate that even the well presented Dot Maison homeware is losing the interest of the general consumer. The prices of the goods would keep increasing in value until the recession is properly addressed, however, given the current economic environment, this is unlikely to happen soon.

Unstable Europe

Unstable Europe

Recently, the political and social developments in Europe are becoming more and more controversial after a series of serious events throughout the continent. Starting from the Balkans, going through the Nordic region and reaching the far south in Spain, Europe is definitely going through a stage of rapid and increasing awareness and social change in the attitudes of the masses.

The Balkan problem is a serious consequence from the inability of political leaders to promote social cooperation between the different ethnicities in the countries. Bulgaria is strongly shaken by ethical conflicts – on Saturday a massive fight has occurred between Muslims and Christians where the Bulgarians claim that the mosques in the country violate the peaceful life of the people and infringe the constitutional status of Bulgaria as a Christian country. Furthermore, Bulgarians started opposing a Turkish political party that has growing influence in the country due to political sympathy from neighbouring Turkey. In Sweden, the conflict is almost the same – Swedish youth was strongly protesting against the completion of a mosque in a neighbourhood. The fights between Muslims and Christians ended with more than 25 people imprisoned for vandalism and hooliganism.

In Spain the problem is completely different. As of today, 22 May, more than 40 000 people are protesting on the streets of Madrid against the inability of the ruling political formation to cope with the financial problems of the country. Young people aim to remove the government through elections and elect a body that would be more capable of dealing with the severe economic problem that has been bothering the country for more than a year. Sectors such as white diesel production, electronics and others have been severely hit by the economic problem leaving thousands of people jobless.

It is the time for political consideration

It is the time for political consideration

What indicates the prosperity of the British nation? Well, definitely not the lofts North London can generously offer. It is the political stability and the diversified opportunities for the public. But while the first term seems to be quite accurate, the second one refers to a quite sophisticated problem solution – the people in the country are well governed but about those who are just coming, bringing all the influence they can to the realm.

This matter is related to some of the most serious problems that the UK is facing – the so called radicalisation. This is the problem that concerns the radical Islam that is being promoted in many of the British strongholds – the nation’s universities (as explored by BBC and Members of the Parliament), the places of residence with a population of Muslims (for example, Luton where one of the moss recent active terrorists that bombed Stockholm was raised) and so on. The problem that politicians need to resolve is the control over religious influence from the outside – organizations that put their members in the British society are actually friends with the UK – rich Saudi people investing millions in the country and welcomed by politicians.

The problem is that the government seems to be neglecting this issue by covering it with future intentions – what the immigration policies would be and what the effect of these measures would be in the long term. However, what is happening now threatens the very essence of the political stability on the island. The UK politicians need to re-establish their reasoning concerning religious freedoms and exercise more severe control over people who might violate the freedom of expression if given too much of liberties. After all, Britain allows so many activities of people of different beliefs but does not estopp these people from actually penetrating the national stability.
